This week we introduced a brother and sister pair of goats to our block of land, we had high hopes that the goats and the dogs would be able to cohabitate on the back part of the block until we could fence the front section properly - Well Evie the ever dramatic GSP ruined that plan. So over the last couple of days we've had some family bonding time building a fence through the back yard to give the goats and dogs separate space and hopefully the chance to get to know each other. Both goats and dogs are very curious of each other, Kelly - the 17 year old kelpie is feels the need to herd the goats into the shed, while Evie is not entirely sure what they are or what to do with them - watching them closely and pointing them is high on the agenda. Add Comment I spent most of Good Friday traveling through Tassie, with friends and my kids - what better sites to see during Easter than Churches? To be honest I photograph churches pretty much any day of the year, they offer a range of aspects to photograph from the period architecture, textural building materials, careful detailing and easy access. The light always seems to be more compelling when it's hitting a big old stone building. This trip we even found one that was open to the public, St John the Evangelist, Catholic Church at Richmond, Tasmania is the oldest Church in Australia still being used, it was built with convict labour in 1836. My boys and I had a catch up with old friends in Hobart, none of us were very familiar with the area so we took the opportunity to visit some of the tourist sites around town, starting with Mt Wellington. The trip was quite satisfying, the views were spectacular and the facilities were very good and there was plenty of room for the the kids to explore the landscape. I haven't been out with "my' camera much lately and this blog is suffering for it, it's a wet afternoon here and I've already had a pretty big day and I have no intention of going out to photograph anything. But I've just got new video editing software and I need to practice using it so I've thrown the whole contents of my "Websize" folder i.e all the photos I've exported as websize since shooting with my canon 5D Mk II, into a speedy animation. This equates to about 5% of the photos I've actually taken over the last 12 months but this is just an exercise to fill in a little time. Nathan only slightly reluctantly got up off the sofa to go out to the garden to help me practice using the video function on my camera. I've been very slack with my Blogging lately, but heres a few shots from the Arboretum, that I played with in Lightroom then strung together in a simple slide show just for practice. This section of the Dasher River offers some interesting water and geology pic options, the left bank looks like a shear fault, while there's some obvious metamorphism in some of the river rocks. Got leached on the back of the ankle while I was exploring this area. While visiting my friend Tracy in Latrobe, she showed me the one day old baby Guinea pigs housed out in her garden - oh so cute, surprisingly furry and alert little things that they are. |
