In unrelenting stone spaces were made, lives sustained in splendid refuge. Tracks retain the knowledge, always returning to place. For the briefest time I had the chance to reside at pinmatik/Rocky Cape, to experience a life dictated by the elements and enriched by the diversity of the environment and deep history of this place. I spent hours immersed in the topography of the Country, in contact with the geology and flora but always looking for the human influences on the land. The body of work for this exhibition was produced during the winter of 2018, when I had the privilege of undertaking an Arts Tasmania Dombrovskis Parks and Wildlife Residency at pinmatik/Rocky Cape National Park, this placement was assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts and with the support of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre. This exhibition will run at Artscape Wynyard, opening on the 28th of June. The Gallery will be open for limited hour from the 29th of June to the 13th of July, Wednesday to Saturday.

After months of preparations I've spent the last 10days or so in Sydney at the Head On Photo Festival, alternately managing my exhibtion and viewing other photograpers work on shoe across a whole range of locations.
This Sunday 12th of May my exhibition will conclude with a WELCOME TO COUNTRY from Jennifer Thomsen, followed by an Artist Talk https://www.headon.com.au/exhibitions/marks-make-place The presentation of exhibition Marks and Artist Talk at the festival was made possible by the Australian Government Regional Arts Fund, which supports artist in regional and remote Australia.y |
