'And beauty below the Moon
And secret sunrise On the dome of Bass sea shells Not even plants multiply without blossom Nor the birds without song' Poem By Peter C Sims, Published in his pamphlet, Mersey Bluff Native Garden. As promised here's the highlights from our Winter adventure on Tasmanian's Overland Track- it has a reputation for beautiful scenery, changeable weather and Freezing cold huts.
I have to say the huts were hard to take- most of them had non-functional heaters - I was very please with how well out sleeping bags stood up to the sub-zero temperatures. The other downside of the trip was technical issues with my camera gear - I took my trusty Canon 6D with a single lens - a nice EF 50mm f/1.4 - but the lens didn't hack the dampness an I resorted to using my husband's Lumix FT30- see if you can spot the differences. I've been acclimatising to the frigid outdoor conditions over the last couple of weeks in preparation for walking Tasmanian's Overland Track, beginning this weekend. Our grown up kids are staying home to look after the dogs and the house while my husband and I spend 5 days walking through winter mountains.
A short walk from home during the winter months here in Tasmania can offer an amazing array of conditions and subjects, from thick fog in on the valley floor it's quite normal to come out into the sunshine after a few hundred metres walk up the hills.
